The Ribeira Sacra is a magical natural enclave found in Galicia, northwest of Spain. A destination where vineyards, wineries, monasteries and rivers are harmonized.
The Miño and Sil rivers meet and flow through deep canyons; creating a unique and spectacular landscape. In addition to its stunning views, the region boasts a wealth of monasteries, churches, and other historic buildings that reflect the area’s rich cultural heritage.
The Ribeira Sacra is known for its wine production, especially red wine made from the Mencía grape, as well as other varieties such as Merenzao, Souson, Brancellao, etc. These varieties are grown mainly in the northern part of slopes, on terraces; always looking for the southern sun. In this way, a unique landscape is created, full of small wineries that practice heroic viticulture, and where navigable rivers intertwine the Atlantic forests on the southern slopes with the vineyard terraces on the opposite side of these.

In the Ribeira Sacra area; In the Vega del Miño, wines are made mainly with the Mencía grape variety, although other native varieties of the region can also be used, such as Garnacha Tintorera and Brancellao. Some of these wines are characterized by their intense red color with violet hues. On the nose, they present aromas of ripe red fruits, such as cherry and plum, as well as spicy and balsamic notes. It is a balanced and elegant wine, with well-integrated acidity and a persistent and pleasant finish. Notes of ripe fruit and spices can be appreciated.

DAY 3 - 1st course
Viñedos a la Ribera del Miño
- Galician spiritsGalician spirits

The denomination of origin Aguardiente de Galicia is a distinction given to high-quality Galician spirits. This denomination was created in 1989 and applies to spirits that are made in the region of Galicia (northwestern Spain), through a traditional distillation process.
Aguardiente is a distillate of pomace, which is obtained from the solid residues that remain after pressing the grapes to obtain the must in winemaking. These marcs are subjected to a fermentation process and later distilled in copper stills, which allows obtaining a high-quality brandy with a very characteristic flavor.
On this second day of the trip we will try to take the shortest route, so we take a small part of your itinerary by boat.
To then continue your route following the course of the Miño river on foot, again you decide how much to walk.
If there is something intrinsic to this area, as much or more than wine, it is its liqueurs and spirits, which is why we think that you cannot leave the Ribeira Sacra without visiting a winery with a distillery.
To celebrate the end of your walking tour we take you to a very special hotel, where you can discover gastronomy and heritage at the same time.
